Hospital Price Transparency
Bigfork Valley Hospital Pricing
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) require standard hospital charges be available online as part of the 2019 inpatient and long-term care hospital prospective payment system (IPPS/LTCH PPS) rule. Effective January 1, 2021, CMS expanded its transparency initiative, requiring hospitals to display shoppable services in a consumer-friendly format.
Bigfork Valley supports the price transparency initiatives to assist patients in understanding their potential financial liability for services. These tools are provided for information only and should not be utilized to accurately estimate the final patient cost. Hospital charges are the amount a hospital bills an insurer for a service. For most patients, hospitals are reimbursed at a level well below charges. Patients covered by commercial insurance products have negotiated rates with hospitals. Patients covered by Medicare or Medicaid programs have hospital reimbursement rates determined by federal and state governments.
Bigfork Valley is dedicated to making our pricing available so that you can make more informed decisions about your healthcare costs. We provide a variety of resources to help you better understand the costs of your medical care and assist you in planning ahead for medical expenses. Please contact Bigfork Valley’s Business Office at (218) 743-3177 for more information about pricing. Our staff are happy to assist you in understanding your costs for a medical procedure or visit.
Bigfork Valley does not employ all the physicians that may provide services or care at Bigfork Valley. These charges may be billed separately from the hospital and are not included in these documents.
